Larry McCoy

Larry McCoy, 75, died Friday, November 27, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Larry was born on March 16, 1934, to Lawrence and Kathryn McCoy in Des Moines.

He enjoyed sailing and ice sailing and competed in many local and national regattas. Larry also enjoyed square dancing and rode RAGBRI several times.

Larry is survived by his wife, Elnora; his daughter, Jean (DT Wallace) Montgomery; his son, Mark (Lisa) McCoy; his step-sons, Fred (Vickie) Wickett and Jeffrey (Terri) Wickett; his step-daughters, Maribeth (Jim) Burr and Jennifer (Jeff) Slump; his sister, Linda Prince and a brother, Tim (Deb) McCoy; three grandchildren, Allison Montgomery, Collin McCoy and Josh White; nine step-grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren and several other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Barry McCoy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 12:00-2:00 pm prior to the funeral.
