June 26, 2023
Beverly Ann (Barr) McFarlin, 90, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023.
Ann was born November 11, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa to Lewis and Clara (Oswalt) Barr. She graduated from Des Moines West/Tech High School and was a Des Moines resident her entire life. Ann and her husband, Robert were married in The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa on November 2, 1952. They loved to travel, and Walt Disney World and Disneyland were some of her favorite destinations. Ann was devoted to her family and was the owner and bookkeeper for both family businesses - Hamborg Meat Market in Des Moines and McFarlin Auto Collision. Enjoying every moment of her 90 years kept Ann young at heart. She loved to tap dance and was very fashionable, all the way down to her impeccably cute shoes!
She is survived by her sons, Bob McFarlin (Ginger Bassett) and Perry McFarlin (Laura); grandchildren, Kelsey Luikart (Trevor) and Alec McFarlin; great-granddaughter, Jane Luikart; sister, Linda Rutledge (Michael); and her nephews, Michael William Rutledge and Bob Pedro.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bob McFarlin, Sr.; her parents, Lewis Barr and Clara Strange; and her sister, Jeannie Pedro (Pete).
There will be a celebration of life on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be preferred to

So sorry for your loss Bob; it was sooo hard when my mother passed 16 years ago. She's missed our grandchildren growing up. I'm sorry I can't come tonight to give you a hug. We all NEED family and friends nearby during tough times. If you want, please give me a call and we'll 'get together' and catchup. I still live in the Des Moines area. Many blessings to you and your family Bob. 515-707-5730

Bobby and family,
Wow, So surprised to hear about the loss of your Mother and the loss of my friend! Bobby, I truly am so sorry to hear about the passing of one of the most amazing women I knew.
She was the epitome of a cool, hard working, doing it her way, and always dressed to the nines, and ready to do whatever she wanted to do kinda of woman who loved her family passionately and with every fiber of her being. Annie, you truly will be missed!
Much love and prayers coming your way Bobby.
I love you my friend and I'm truly sorry for your loss. Sherri

Bobby, I am sad to learn that your mom has passed on. I always enjoyed your parents growing up. Whenever I would see your mom she was dressed to the 9s and always seemed happy to see me, whether that was on the golf course, at the mall or in a restaurant. I know you had a great relationship with her and will miss her terribly.
