Bruce F. Ihnen

Bruce F. Ihnen, age 66, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023, due to long standing medical challenges.

Bruce was born October 7, 1956, in Greenfield, Iowa to Melvin and Evelyn (Pettinger) Ihnen. Bruce was a strong man of faith and a loving father and faithful spouse. He was a member of New Life Center in Des Moines, and had recently been attending Saylorville Church. He worked his entire career for Nationwide Electronics in Urbandale, which spanned close to 40 years. Bruce was an outdoorsman and enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Surprisingly, he was also an avid shopper.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jane Ihnen; his siblings, Leona (Lester) Dalton, Allen (Lisa) Ihnen, Gary (Michele) Ihnen, and Larry (Angie) Ihnen; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; his brother-in-law, Jerry Spragg; and Jane’s siblings and in-laws, with whom he was very close.

Bruce was preceded in death by his son, Joel Ihnen; his parents, Melvin and Evelyn Ihnen; and his sister, Kathy Spragg.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, West Des Moines on Saturday, June 24, 2023. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6:30 p.m.
