Larry Cox

Larry Dale Cox, 63, was born November 28, 1959 in Camp Lejeune, North Caroline, the son of Charles and Ida Ruth (Nester) Cox. He passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at his home in Bondurant surrounded by his loving family.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army and was in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a master trim carpenter throughout his life as well as a self-taught skilled mechanic. Larry was also a scuba dive instructor and loved teaching people new skills. He always had a witty comeback, a heart of gold and will be missed by those who were blessed to have known him.

Larry is survived by his father, Charles K. Cox; children, Tina Kithcart and Philip Cox; mother of his children, Joanne Cox; siblings, Peggy Madison and Tommy Cox; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Ruth Cox.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2023 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW in Altoona. Cremation will follow visitation and private inurnment will take place at the Altoona Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 12208, Timothy Brandon Lay, Altoona, Iowa in loving memory of Larry.
