Wendy Hull
June 12, 2023
Gwendolyn Dorothy Hull Coon, “Wendy”, 52, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on June 12, 2023 from an unexpected health issue.
Visitation for family, friends, and community will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown, in West Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Soteria Des Moines Baptist Church, 3250 Soteria Avenue also in West Des Moines. Pastor Zach Dietrich will officiate. Burial will follow the memorial service at Glendale Cemetery off of University Avenue in Des Moines. Immediately following there will be food and fellowship time back at Soteria Church.
Wendy was born on June 04, 1971 in Kirksville, Missouri. She was a 1990 graduate from Ft. Madison High School and attended Faith Baptist College in Ankeny and DMACC in Des Moines. Wendy was married to Corey Coon on November 1, 2003 and they later divorced.
Wendy was known as “Wednesday” from her Wednesday Notes blog she wrote for the Des Moines area music artists; who will be performing, and when and where they would be each week. Wendy helped with promoting events and published interviews with musicians. Currently “Wednesday Notes” has more than 2,700 followers. In 2015, she won the Fan of the Year award from the Des Moines Music Coalition due to being an involved and well-established figure in the community and in the local music scene. Music was an absolute passion of her life, and music was a melody in her soul!
Wendy was a huge part of the Valley Junction District with their live music, local shops, and she enjoyed visiting the Farmer’s Market. Wendy also enjoyed writing poems and journaling throughout the years. She was an avid Hawkeye fan as well. Wendy doted on her only niece, Hannah, and her four-paw puppy nephew, M.A.X. She was always involved in their lives or asking for puppy pictures! Wendy was a longtime member of Soteria Baptist Church and was active in her church’s small group and wherever she could help out.
Wendy is survived by her father, David Hull (Carol); sister, Ginger Lawshe (Robert); niece, Hannah Wiley Lorenzo de Arteaga (Leber); her four-paw nephew, M.A.X.; and her other extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn “Kathy” Hull; maternal uncle, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Ginger Lawshe, 18914 E. Briargate Lane, 1C, Parker, CO 80134 in loving memory of Wendy Hull.
The family of Gwendolyn Dorothy Hull would like to thank Pastor Zach Dietrich, Pastor Aaron Pals, all Soteria staff, musicians, sound and tech committee, hospitality committee, along with all Soteria family who have loved and doted on our Wendy and family. We would love to thank her Band Community that she cherished and loved for all you have done to honor our “Wednesday Notes - Wendy” and helping our family this week and in the upcoming weeks. We would also like to thank Hamilton’s Funeral Home and many family and friends who have cherished and loved on Wendy’s family during this time.
