Jimmy Dee (Couch) McVay
Des Moines
Jimmy Dee (Couch) McVay, 50, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2009 with her family by her side. She battled breast cancer for the past 10 years. She put up one hell of a fight. She was loved and will be missed by all.
Jimmy is survived by her mother, Lucy Coulter; brothers, Joe, Jeff and Jr.; sisters, Jerry and Johney (Joe); children, Shanean, Samantha, John (Sara) and Joshua (Melissa); nine grandkids; any many nieces, nephews, family and friends; and her beloved dog, Tessa.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Welker and nurse Julie.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I met Jimmy in the 70s and though we had not been in contact for years, she is not the type of person you could ever forget. She was good people and I am sure she will be missed by everyone that was blessed with knowing her.

You kids all know how much your mom was a part of my life, as I sit here getting ready for the funeral, I am having flashbacks of all the times we had together, some great, some good, some very interesting.
I wanted to meet out new neighbor for so long, it looked like a lot of good parties going on over there, I finally got the courage to introduce myself to Jeff and he connected me to Jim, needless to say, my life was never the same.
Your mom had the sense of humor of Robin Williams,the gift-of-gab of Lucille Ball and the balls of a 300 Lb. Hells Angel.
Some of the things we got ourself into, like offering to do your cousin Michelles wedding flowers, neither of us had ever done them before, making dozens of dried flower arrangements for a garage sale, thinking we were going to be rich , not selling a single one.Getting to know the dog catcher by his first name(Kevin Lemmon) because he was called out so many times over Baldo.
Baldos introduction to my beloved Darrell, until the day he died, If you said "wheres Baldo" to Darrell, he would flip out. Calling her to meet me at EL Rodeos because we both loved it so much, I will never go to that resturant again without thinking of her.
I have known 1/2 of you kids since you were babies, the other 2 of you were very small,keep her memory alive to your own children, you will never regret it, remember Jim the way she really was, dont make her into something she wasnt because shes gone now, she would not like that, and stop by and see me every now and then, that will help me feel closer to her, I really loved her so and I will miss her always.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've known Jimmy since kindergarten, and though I hadn't seen her in awhile, our path's crossed many times over the last several years. Jimmy was a hell of a fighter. You've always had a close knit family and I know the loss has left a huge hole in your lives and your hearts. Please find some comfort in knowing she is now at peace and doesn't have to suffer anymore. I bet she was met with open arms by our brother Gary, they are probably having one hell of a party! God Bless all of you. I hold each and everyone of you close in my heart, you have always been family to me. I will continue to pray that you may all find peace and comfort during such a sad time.

Shenean and Samantha,
So sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. I did not get the chance to meet her but I am totally sure she was very special. I remember your dad ( my brother ) speaking of her from time to time. Kim Dunn called me and told me of her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this time of sorrow. God Bless and keep you all safe.

To My Family: I wish it was possible for me to be there, but I hope you all know how much I love you and how much I love my sister. I'm so thankful for the last couple of years of being re-connected with her. Thank You, Shanean, for your part in making that happen.
