Leo Weiss
June 05, 2023
Leo William Weiss passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Monday, June 5, 2023, at the age of 1 year, 9 months and 14 days old.
Leo obviously couldn't wait to meet the world! He was born to his parents Taylor and Jesse Weiss on August 22, 2021, which was 4 weeks prior to his due date. He spent 20 days in the Blank NICU where he spent time learning how to eat and grow. As the days went by he gained strength and charmed all of the nurses with his easy going nature and sweet little smile.
After he came home, he quickly became the center of his family and brought each of them closer together.
Once he got a little bigger and stronger, he was always on the go. He went straight from walking to running nonstop. Leo loved being outside and exploring, especially in Union Park which he knew as his own back yard. He liked playing on splash pads, taking bike rides, and going for walks with mom and dad. He had an infectious smile and he always looked to you to make sure you knew he was having fun.
Some of Leo's favorite things were Toy Story and Bluey. He loved searching for new things to play with- especially things he could make into gadgets. He was a collector of all the little things to keep for a rainy day for fun! He loved to organize and coordinate colored post-it notes and blocks. He loved his "sister cat" Ruby and they spent a lot of time playing outside together.
Leo was an old soul even at a young age. He spent lots of time with his books and loved reading with his parents and grandparents, giggling as the pages would turn. He had such an inquisitive mind and wanted to learn and feel everything. You could tell his little mind was always thinking. Leo appreciated good food and his parents encouraged his love for all things breakfast!
He touched the lives of so many in his short time here, and everyone who met him can remember that captivating smile. He will be lovingly remembered by his mommy and daddy, Taylor and Jesse; his grandparents, Brenda Haskins, Peter and Tracee Weiss; his great-grandparents, Mike and Dorothy Irving; his aunts and uncles; Masson and Madisson Weiss, Connor, Shannon and Ryan Haskins; and many extended family members who love and cherish him.
Services will be held at Frontier Church, 4440 College Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50311. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, and will be followed by cremation.
Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Walk with You or to Frontier Church in acknowledgement of their support during this difficult time.
