Doris Robshaw

Doris May Robshaw passed away at Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on November 25, 2009, at the age of 93, with the wonderful people from Iowa Hospice by her side. She was born March 25, 1916, to John Linus and Alma (Samuelson) Gustafson on a farm north of Bondurant.

Doris’ mother died when Doris was fourteen months old. She then went to live with, and was kindly nurtured by the Kurtzweil family of Altoona.

She was married to Walter Sellner on August 24, 1941. They later divorced; but to this union two children were born, Charles and Virginia.

Doris married Merrill Robshaw August 30, 1966.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merrill, in 1993; her son, Charles in 2009; her sisters, Evelyn, Alice and Wanda; brother, Albert; half-sister, Elsa; half-brothers, Lawrence and Robert.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Virginia Nelson; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Stephanie Nelson; half-sister, Norma Jean Baker; half-brothers, Walter and Richard Gustafson; and her friend, Pat Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Altoona Funeral Home, followed by burial at the Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
