Sandra Kearney, 68, left her loving family and a multitude of friends on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston following a courageous and graceful battle against lung cancer, lasting almost three years. She was born on July 13, 1941, to Thaddeus and Cecelia Critchfield in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and enjoyed reading, square dancing, and dining with friends. Sandra retired as an investigator for the Consumer Protection Division of the Iowa Attorney Generals Office.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 48 years, William; her son, Patrick (Peggy) Kearney; grandchildren, Nathan and Drew Kearney; sisters, Cleo Dawson and Sue (Dave) Thompson; her mother, Cecelia Critchfield; long time family friend Dean Dawson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thaddeus Critchfield.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 30, 2009, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes. A visitation with the family present will be from 4:00-6:30 pm, with a 6:30 pm vigil service on Sunday, November 29, 2009, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a memorial to be determined later in loving memory of Sandra.

With Heartfelt Sympathy to the Kearney Family,
May you find comfort in God's word and in the knowledge that others sympathize with you in your loss. Since this may be one of the hardest things we will Isaiah 25:8 says, "God will actually swallow up death forever and Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces..." Please read John 5:28,29. It has bought comfort to many bereaved persons and myself. I pray it does the same for you.

Our prayers are with the Kearney family at this sad time. I am sure that Mrs Kearney put up a great but gracefull fight the last few years and weeks... May God's blessings be with you all...Someday we will all be in a greater place together with our God where there in no pain or suffering, only joy. Peace

I remember all the fun lunches Cleo, Sandy and I shared. She was a wonderful lady. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
