Albert L. Ellington, age 67, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

Albert was born March 8, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised in the Ponderosa area of Des Moines. He served his country in the United States Army.

Albert loved watching basketball and was a huge Lakers fan. He enjoyed going to his nephew’s house for barbeque ribs and greens. Albert liked spending time with family and friends. He was a very caring man and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He never spoke down to anyone and never made enemies. He was one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Dashawna Ellington and her children; nephew, Zagory Harris; great-nephews, Zagory Harris, Jr. and Cortez Sauerwein Dalaun; step-daughter, Clara Mae Carter; step-granddaughter, Quanda Carter; and many other extended family and friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his partner, Slyvia Wease; mother, Marguerite Ellington Fugget; step-father who raised him, Louis Fugget; and his sister, June Washington.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
