Joanne Holmes, 88, passed away May 18, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Joanne was born November 21, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa to George and Maude (Scott) Noble.
She loved animals, camping, cooking, and traveling to see family. She was an avid bell collector and enjoyed puzzles. Above all, she loved the time spent with her family.
Joanne is survived by her children, John (LaRue), Janet Cornelissens, Jerry (Cheryl), and James (Denise); grandchildren, Jeff, Jami, Joelle, Katie, Michelle, Jennifer, Jake, Jessica, Ashley, Stephanie, and Heather; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Wendt; sister-in-law, Dianna Cosner; daughter-in-law, Toni Holmes; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, John Holmes; and siblings, Richard Noble, George Noble, Sharon Nelson, and Pauline Wacome.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the funeral home. Joanne will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Joanne.

Ill miss her, but Im glad shell be with my favorite Uncle John and my Father & Mother camping on the other side. Joanne was always upbeat, ready for an adventure and had an amazing sense of humor! Tell Grandmother Agnes hello for me.
