Jose Navarro Valdez

Jose Navarro Valdez, 74, passed away on May 17, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jose was born June 1, 1948 in Aguascalientes, Mexico to Salvador Valdez and Maria Luisa Navarro. He has lived in Iowa since 1990. Jose was a farmer all of his life. He loved baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Jose is survived by his loving wife, Maria Teresa Guerrero Bandera; children, Chava, Juan Jose, Maria Luisa, Alicia, Laura, Maria De La Cruz, Martha, Javier, Luis Miguel, Maria Elena and Isabel; siblings, Manuela, Margarita, Anastacia, Jesus, Maria Elena, Salvador and Marta; 21 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Maria and his siblings, Sanjuana and Javier.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 4 pm to 8 pm with the Rosary prayed at 7 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 25th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church, 1271 E 9th Street. Jose will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.
