Margaret A. English

Margaret A. English, 74, died November 24, 2009. Funeral service will be 11 AM Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 1001 Pleasant Street in Des Moines with burial at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 Sunday evening at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Margaret was born March 7, 1935 to James & Hazel Anderson. She was a 1954 East High Graduate and married Carl English on October 25, 1959. Margaret worked at North Western Bell and US West/Qwest for over 40 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Her hobbies were crafting, painting, gardening, reading and her sewing club circle.

She is survived by her daughters, Carla (Charles) English Smith of Arlington, TX, Ann (Joe) Unger, Kerry English; grandson, Colton Unger all of Kansas City, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl; sisters, Mary Manley, Millie Holmes and Louise Nash.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed to the Wesley Acres or to the First United Methodist Church.

Margaret’s family would like to thank the Staff at Wesley Acres for all their love and support for Mom over the past five years.
