Chester W. Good, 73, passed away on Nov. 24, 2009. He was born on Oct. 3, 1936, in rural Perry, Kansas, to Alberta and Charles Howard Good.
After graduating from Kansas State University he came to Des Moines in 1960 to work in the transportation department of the Chamber of Commerce, and later in economic development and the agriculture committee. Years later he had a second career as a realtor with Iowa Realty. He was a member of the Educational Investment Club, Golden K Kiwanis, and the Masonic High Twelve Club, and loved watching trains and having breakfast with friends at McDonalds.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Irene; son, Jeffrey (Kim) of St. Bonifacius, MN; grandchildren, Olivia and Alex; and sister, Phyllis Jones of Kewanee, IL.
Per his request, his body has been donated to Des Moines University. Memorial services will be held at West Des Moines United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 2, at 11:00 am.

To the Family and Friends of Chester -
We are so sorry over the loss of your husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. You were truly blessed to have Chester as a part of your family or life. My wife and I went to Perry Rural High School and graduated in the same class with Chester. We have remained life long friends. Unfortunately, we just learned today of Chester's death. Our high school graduating class has remained very close over the 55 years since graduation, and even though Chester and Irene lived some 250 miles away, Chester was always a part of our annual reunions. All of us in our class will miss him terribly. We extend our sympathy to all of his family and friends over your great loss.

Our Educational Investment Club has lost one of its most senior, most honorable and most accomplished members. His insightful contributions to our stock analysis, his conscientious efforts to explore the lesser understood facets of an investment and his ever vigilant observations of the investment community will be profoundly missed. When Chet spoke, I listened with a respect born of admiration for an elders wisdom. His commentary often reminded me of the ancient Roman orator Marcus Cicero who observed that They are eloquent who can speak low things acutely, and of great things with dignity, and of moderate things with temper. It was an honor to stand in the shadow of Chets ethical expectations of corporate governance, directors accountability, executive conduct, shareholder rights and the fair, honest and accurate reporting of financial information.
While I truly lament losing a friend, I feel the business communitys greater loss, in that there is one less honorable businessman to exemplify the virtues of honesty, integrity and character. Chets life is an enduring testimony to those ideals.
May Irene and family find peace and comfort in knowing that his loss is felt by all who knew and loved him.

I was most saddened to receive the news of Chesters passing. Having worked with him for nearly twenty years I found him to be a persos of kindness, dillignece, integrity and keen intellignece. Although quite by nature he was always on top of his work station concerns, accomplishing them forthwright without any fanfare. A good friend and colleague. My sincere condolences to Irene and family.

I am so sorry to hear that Chet has passed. I would thing about stopping by when I went to work everyday. I so enjoyed work with him during the investment club endevors.

I grew up with Chester's son, Jeff. I had many play-dates at the Good's home growing up. Chester was a kind and gentle man who took pride in his son and his accomplishments. He was always very pleasant and friendly to one and all. I was saddened for Jeff and Irene's loss--especially so close to Thanksgiving. My family offers its condolences and prayers during this time of sorrow.
