William "Bill" Slicker

William “Bill” Slicker, 95, passed away peacefully May 12, 2023 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bill was born February 11, 1928 in Jefferson City, Missouri. After graduating from Truman State University, he was employed as a Principal and Superintendent of Schools in Yuma, Arizona before retiring as an educator in the Missouri and Iowa school systems.

In his retirement years, he was active as a performer and director in community theaters in every city that he and Claire visited as year-round RVers. He was Chief of the Auxiliary Police Department in Ft. Madison, IA and he proudly served his country as an Army Veteran of World War II. Bill was a long -time fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Claire Slicker; daughter, Lisa Reeder; and granddaughters, Jennifer and Jillian Reeder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Madeline Slicker and sister, Patricia Yoemans.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
