Neda Jesser, 102, passed away on May 12, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She was born in Des Moines on August 11, 1920 to Abraham and Anessa (Mamo) DeBakey.
Neda attended Phillips Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High and East High School. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Neda worked for Younkers and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. After Neda and Dave were married, she retired from the work force and became a full-time housewife.
Over the years she and Dave enjoyed family and friends and always entertained in their home. They traveled often, spending winters in warmer weather. It was on the winter trips where Neda collected shells, which she painted and decorated. She then turned them into ornaments, which she hung from unique pieces of driftwood she collected.
She loved to cook and took interest in helping family members learn how to prepare various Mediterranean foods the “right” way. No one ever left hungry after visiting her. Neda had many hobbies that included, light gardening, especially herbs, crafts, and shopping.
Neda is survived by her many nieces, nephews, great, great great, and great great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Victor, Raymond (Marie), Mitchell and Alfred (Betty); sister, Laurice (Kem) David and husband, David Jesser.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Ave., Des Moines.
