John Junior "JR" Money

John Junior “JR” Money, 83, passed away on May 9, 2023, at Park Centre Nursing Home in Newton, Iowa.

He was born March 1, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa to John and Bessie Money.

John Money “Big John” was a gentle giant. His smile was almost as big as he was and his laugh was infectious. When he entered the room, people took notice. His appearance made him hard to miss as he was always decked out from head to toe in his western wear, turquoise jewelry, and size 14 blue diamond cowboy boots. His personality made him memorable. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He made friends wherever he went and would always help a friend in need. John had a deep booming voice and loved to sing old Country Music. In his younger days, he performed professionally in Country Music Theatres throughout the Midwest and even performed at Red Rocks Theatre in Colorado. John was also a car salesman in Des Moines for many years. He had a reputation for treating his patrons fairly and honestly. John loved karaoke, western movies, car races, and spending time with friends. He will be greatly missed by many.

John was preceded in death by his father John Money, mother Bessie Money, sister Betty Lou Weckman, brother-in-law Bernie Weckman, brother Barney Money, son Rex Money, and great nephew Mikey Hedegard.

He is survived by his children, Johnny Money, (LaNette), David Money, Debbie Monsoor, (Shah Qadri), Shawnda Abbas, (Steve), Laura Money, Little John Money, (Julie); and siblings, Leotus Arnold, Charlie Money, (Lexie), Diana Jennings, (Steve), Joanne Chinn, and (Jeffrey).
