Robert "Bob" Brown

Robert George Brown, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Mill Pond in Ankeny, with his son by his side, while under the care of UnityPoint Hospice.

Bob was born March 22, 1938, in West Bend, Iowa, to Robert Alfred Brown and Maytie (Nessen) Brown. He was known and loved by many, and treasured the friendships he built through the years with his career in the automotive industry, from Plaza Hill DX to Beneventi Chevrolet. Bob loved long drives behind the wheel, woodworking in his free time, and trips to Prairie Meadows with his brother Dick. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his family.

He is survived by his son, Brian R. Brown (Jill); grandchildren, Charlie (Amber) Brown, Hazel Kocher, and Hamilton Brown; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn Henderson (Don) and Gary Brown, Sr. (Barbara); and many other loving relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Brown; son, Charlie Brown; parents, Robert and Maytie Brown; and brother, Richard “Dick” Brown.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Gardens, Des Moines, after the funeral.
