Gloria "Jean" Fargo

Gloria “Jean” Fargo, 83, passed away on May 6, 2023, at her home in Des Moines. She was born in Des Moines, on July 5, 1939, to Agnes Lydon.

Jean was an Administrative Assistant with the Iowa Department of Agriculture for 35 years. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy. Jean volunteered at the Festival of Trees, Science Center, Blank Park Zoo, the Des Moines Playhouse, and at various schools. She was an avid reader and enjoyed making crafts. Most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them on many adventures.

Jean is survived by her daughter Amy (Lynn) Skarin and son Kevin Fargo; grandchildren, Jake Skarin, Lauren (Connor) Winders and Jordan (Caitlin) Skarin; sister-in-law, Joyce Fargo; brother-in-law, Francis Pardoe; many nieces, nephews and a great granddaughter on the way.

She was preceded in death by, her mom, Agnes Davis; step dad, Earl Davis; brother Tony Fargo and sister Margaret Pardoe.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, May 14, 2023 from 4:00 -6:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines.
