Ivyl Dale Scott, 92, passed away May 4, 2023, at home in Des Moines. He was born in Des Moines August 14, 1930, to William and Icy Mae (Pearson) Scott.
Dale was a 65-year member of IBEW Local 347 as a Journeyman Electrician. He proudly served in the Korean War as a U.S. Marine. An East High School graduate, he enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and was a great vegetable gardener. Dale was an avid Iowa Hawkeye sports and Chicago Cubs fan and loved sharing his excitement with his friend Herbie.
He was the kindest, most compassionate, big-hearted man, who cherished his family more than anything. Whenever anyone needed anything at any time, he was just a call away.

Also, his dear granddaughters Jaime Six, (Jada, Jala); sister-in-law, Dorothy McKinley and numerous nieces and nephews. And we can’t forget his amazing fur baby companion, Pascal.

When Ivyl entered the Marine Corps on February 1, 1949. He was given this poem by the Chaplin - he kept it with him every day until his passing.
Prayer for a Marine
Lord, shadow with your loving care,
The path of this Marine,
On land, on sea, by night, by day
From him all dangers screen.
The leather necks of God, brave men
The soldiers of the sea,
Wherever perils threaten most,
Marines will always be.
Be with them, O Lord, in all the lands,
There duty bids them go,
Keep strong their faith, keep high their hearts,
Protect them from the foe!
