I am unable to attend Tom's funeral today due to events following my Mother's death/estate. My condolences to your family. Tom hired me at CHS, and I continued his friendship when I was in the Senate and he was the Sgt. at Arms. I certainly apologize for not being able to attend. My prayers are with your family.

I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to meet, become acquainted with and know Tom at Tech High School in the 1960s and 1970s. He was a mentor as both a teacher and as coach for me; his sense of humor was subtle and yet so on-point and entertaining. I am not at all surprised by the depth and breadth of his education career. Everyone should have the blessing of knowing such a kind and influential mentor.
