Karen McNaney
April 21, 2023
Karen McNaney, 72, passed away on April 21, 2023 at Mercy One in Des Moines. She was born in Des Moines to Marvin and Carol (Buhrer) Brown.
Karen was a nurse for 38 years working on the transplant floor at Mercy One. She loved her job and that encompassed who she was. She always brought her family with her.
Karen is survived by her husband, Mike; sons, Kenny Cockayne and Kelly Cockayne; mother, Carol Dolph; brother, Rod Dolph; sisters, Becky Macintosh and Linda Brown; granddaughters, Jeni Griffin and Mallory Cockayne and great grandson, Jax Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Marvin and sister Nancy Canon.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa.

We just learned that Karen passed away in the spring. She was a wonderful person, always taking care of her mom and her aunt, thoughtful and kind to everyone she met.
Please accept our deepest sympathy at the loss of someone so special to so many.

I worked with Karen for a few years and I loved her. She was a great worker and so much fun to be around, especially when we went to Aksarben to play the ponies. Always with a smile. Will miss her. Rest in peace, Karen. 💕

Karen definitely had a positive impact on so many people during her life time. Her career let her do what she loved best -helping other people. She gave of herself to her family and perfect strangers. But the love and care she provided to her aunt Wanda for so many years will earn her a great seat in Heaven. Thank you Karen for watching over her.

My dear friend Karen. We met in 1981 and I have loved you every day since. We started as coworkers and became best friends. For over 20 years we worked together, played together and did life together. You were right beside me at the best times and held me at the worst. I haven't seen you much these last 20 years; a few lunches, texts, holiday and life announcements. Not the everyday times we once shared. But I have always thought of you. Knowing you were just "there" always gave me comfort and made me smile. You are much more than a friend, more like a sister. I will miss you so much. I love you Karen. Rest and I will see you again. Of that I am certain.

I worked with Karen in the 80s when I was a new grad and again in 2017 when I moved back to Iowa for a short time. She was awesome. Never made one feel stupid, always welcoming . She will be missed by many
