FOR OUR DAD -

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Tobias (Toby) Joe Fischer.

Our Dad was born on December 19, 1973. He was raised by the most tremendous mother, JoAnn Fischer. He was the older of two siblings. Having a younger sister (Jana Morris) Toby was forced to become the man of the house at a very young age. With only having a single mother and a younger sister, he would be raised to not only be a great dad but also a great role model.

Growing up, our Dad loved sports. His most dominant sport was football. In the 92-93 football season, Toby would become an All-State football star at Valley High School. After high school he was awarded a scholarship to play football for Waldorf.

Toby was empowered by his three boys - Gavin, Brody and Logan - who couldn’t be more proud of the dad that he was. Toby was determined to guide his three boys to live their best lives, while also living his best life. Toby didn’t need much in life - just his family, Iowa Football, his dog Layla, and the absolute love of his life Jenny Schwery.

Our Dad was best known for his thunderous voice, his exceptional storytelling, his love for Iowa Football, and all things Marvel. He retired a two time Fantasy Football champion in the “League of Savages”. Above all, Toby loved his family.

Toby leaves behind his tremendous mother JoAnn Fischer, his little sister Jana Morris, his brother-in-law Billy Morris, his niece Erin, his nephew Ryan, the love of his life Jenny Schwery, and his three boys Gavin, Brody and Logan.

Our Dad is going to be greatly missed. He has left a mark on numerous amounts of people and will not be forgotten. He was always out to “Make Memories” with his boys.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a time of sharing at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital or to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
