Kathleen Sutton
April 14, 2023
Kathleen Sutton, age 64, was born on October 6, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa and has been a life-long resident of Des Moines, although she was a die-hard Minnesota Viking fan.
Kathy went to meet the Lord peacefully surrounded by those she loved on April 14, 2023.
Kathy was a beloved mother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Shirley Carter, her brother Jeff Carter, and her beloved daughter Heather Downard.
She is survived by her beloved son Patrick Sutton (Ashton), her siblings Carolyn Byrkett (David), Bill Armstrong (Jenny), and Adrian Carter (Melissa), as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Kathleen fought many battles throughout her life including surviving cancer and all the while she lived her life day to day with the warmest smile. She loved family get-togethers and cooking her renowned recipes. Anyone who knew her couldn’t help but tell stories of her getting into mischief with her siblings. When she wasn’t watching the food network, she was at home with her beloved dogs, Brewski and Theo, or out on the town causing mayhem.
Kathleen will be missed always and remembered for her giving heart, contagious smile, and the deep love of her family. She touched many lives and will continue to do so for years to come through the memories she left us.
Sissy, you were and always will be the heart of our family.
Services for Kathleen will be cremation followed by a Celebration of Life that will be announced at a later date by the family.
Please send any memorial contributions to Patrick Sutton c/o Hamilton’s Funeral Home, Des Moines Iowa. (515) 243-5221

Love lives on forever,
in each memory and thought,
of those we loved and lost.
Love lives on forever,
it will never fade away,
For in our hearts you will remain,
until we meet again....
I love you Sissy! I believe in God's promise that we will all be together again one day.
