Mary Nuzum

Maryellen Nanette Nuzum, age 93, passed away peacefully at the Gardens of Port St. Lucie in Florida on April 10, 2023.

Mary was born February 24, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa to Noble and Sadie (Marsh) Woodford.

Mary loved her family and her Savior. She taught Sunday school, wrote several Bible Studies, and had numerous poems and stories published. She and her husband both enjoyed long rides in the country, as well as sitting in the mall watching people and talking to children. They never met a stranger.

She is survived by her two daughters, Christine (Dave) Kennedy and Vicki (Don) Twiford; four grandchildren, Sharla Hintz, Mike Kennedy, Danae Applegate and Donny Twiford; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Nuzum on February 10, 2016,

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Pkwy, West Des Moines. Interment will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, Iowa.
