Bruce Wiand was born August 4, 1952, in Des Moines to Otis and Mildred Wiand. He passed away April 8, 2023, in his childhood home.

Bruce was retired from being a siding applicator, window installer and an auto mechanic.

Bruce was a proud Navy Veteran. While in the Navy he served on the USS Caliente and the USS Wabash. He worked as a welder and was a member of the emergency response team earning the coveted Maltese Cross designation while in the Navy. He was an avid race car enthusiast. He enjoyed watching Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Sr. and driving his street stock car at the Boone Speedway, Stuart Speedway and Iowa State Fairgrounds.

Bruce is survived by his daughters, Veronica Dingman (Rodney See) and Paula (Raymond) Roll; sister, Sharon (Butch) Miller; aunt Sue (Milt) Chumbley; niece Tina (Joe) Fazio; 3 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 2 great nieces, cousins, along with a host of loving family and lifelong friends.

A celebration of his life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. There will be a committal service at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
