Dick Rogerson

John “Dick” Richard Rogerson, 84, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023.
Dick was born August 28, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa to John and Anne (Clark) Rogerson.
He served with the Des Moines Police Department in various roles including street patrol officer, accident investigator, and homicide detective until retiring in 1990. He then acted as Human Resources Director for NPI Security for 20+ years.
Dick was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan, he enjoyed cooking and baking, and loved hosting family gatherings. He was a loving husband and proud father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Alice, son Tony Rogerson and daughter-in-law Angie Rogerson, daughter Lori Rogerson and son-in-law Brad Richardson, daughter Christy Vald and son-in-law Roman Vald, step-son Scott Kinney, daughter-in-law Kelly Kinney, grandchildren Rachel Rogerson, Abby Dougherty, Jack Rogerson, Sam Richardson, Gabe Vald, Olivia Vald and Sydney Kinney, and extended family and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anne Rogerson.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. There will be a reception to follow.

Unfortunately, I never had the chance to work directly with Rog while he was on the department. But I knew him to be a decent guy who always took time to speak to me whenever we would run into each other. I know that he earned a great deal of respect while on the DMPD. He was a great guy and he'll be missed by all who knew him.

Alice and family we are so sorry for your loss. We have fond memories of time spent together. Rog will be missed by many.
