Bernard Wright, 49, died Thursday November 19, 2009 at Bright Kavanagh House. Bernard was born on May 29, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa to Stanley and Dixie Shelton Wright.
Bernard is survived by his children; Mathew (Keri Hollingsworth) Wright and Amanda (Jeremy) Selvage, two grandchildren Ashley Selvage and Tatum Hollingsworth; mother; Dixie (step-father Jim) Holdredge, Brother; Michael (Andrea) Wright, sister; Pamela (Brian Gustafson) Wright, step-brothers and sisters; Betty, Lynn, Stan, Brian, Jeff, Steve, Garry and Cindy, grandparents; Joseph and Armetta Cleary and Cephus Wright an several nieces an nephews.
Bernard was preceded in death by his father Stanley Wright and a nephew Justin Wright.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday November 24, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be held from 6-8 pm Monday November 23, 2009.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bright Kavanagh House in loving memory of Bernard.

I find myself in shock. I wasnt even aware bernie was ill. i hadnt talked nor seen him in several years, which now i wish i could change. I have found myself not able to do anything but sit here all evening remembering alot of years with friends that in life we sometimes lose contact with because of so many changes. i am greatly sadden by bernies passing. I keep thinking of all the fun times when we were all young and had no care in the world. i had ran into him a couple times, and actually went to his home one evening a few years ago(that was first time seen him for few years before that) i sat and visited for long time and he got my new address and he did later in that week come over for a short visit and we did some catching up on our lives and changes. what a great loss the family & all the people (that were lucky enough to have known and had bernie as part of their life in some kind of way) now have to know. The one thing i want the family to know is the great person and friend Bernie was and the way he touched many lives and will always be remembered i hope help with the pain. I truly hope for the family to know he lives forever in many many peoples memories, all different parts & time frames of bernies life will remain alive in all of you and all of us with the many different memories we all have of his life that complete the person he was in life. I sit here for hours and all the past times and years i hadnt realized went by & i thought i forgot, i recalled tonight that many of them Bernie was a big part of. many times i spent with bernie (and others) beginning with the weekend bom fires that became their regular weekend event, to attending hogroasts or playing pool at the Do Drop Inn, loading bunchs of us in his van for the drive Inns, or just hanging out. Bernies was the weekend event. He was such a kicked back easy going man. He always had many friends that surrounded his life. Then we all had to change we had marriages & babies i remember his wedding day, I remember Matthews birth, we spent alot of time with lena & bernie in a couples night of cards & visiting but lifes changes stopped our closeness with my divorce and his. i remember his divorce, these are the kind of things that changed our life and directions of what we did. I regret that all the changes in our lives separated my keeping in contact with him, because if i could have just one of those talks i shared with him, when it was just us and he was Bernie, who i loved as a very important friend, i wouldnt let lifes changes put the distance in our friendship that and is now forever gone to all of us. Please give the family of Bernards my condolences, for the loss of a great man & friend that he was inside & out. The Sadness that Bernies life is over at such a young age, leaves me realizing all the years that have gone by from our lives and has me realizing how many years ago that was, when he was one of my closest friends, and a huge part of my everyday life. I cant help but wonder, and hope, that Bernie finally had some of his life dreams and wants made real and that life finally gave him some happiness and contentment(that i knew many years ago he wanted)before his passing. God Bless the family & God please take care of a special man, who gave many people great memories of life and gave many happiness in life, only because he was a part of their life in some way. Keep him close and give him love because he is a man that deserves peace and contentment. You had and always will have memories (of a great son, father, gpa, brother, cousin friend) in Bernard (bernie) Wright. he was loved by all.
