Phyllis Aylene Thompson Danes, 91, passed away on April 8, 2023 at her home-Ramsey Village in Des Moines. She was the daughter of Omar and Vera (Nittler) Harlan.
She was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. Phyllis attended Park Avenue Elementary, Callanan Middle School, Roosevelt and Des Moines Technical High Schools.
She married Wm. H. Thompson and by this union had three children, Wm. Craig, Sandra Lee and Pamela Sue. She married a second time to Dan C. Danes and along with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren they became a big family.
Phyllis lived life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She loved God, family, family gatherings, church activities, bridge, square dancing, crafts, traveling, camping and gambling.
Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her family. Daughters, Sandra Thompson and Pamela (Michael) Meyer; five grandchildren, Croix Thompson, Joey (Stephanie) Meyer, Amy (Brad) Black, Jamey (Jocelyn) Meyer and Addi (Amanda) Bills and five great grandchildren, Logan Black, Brady Meyer, Lauren Black, Graham Meyer and Colby Meyer.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth S. Harlan; husbands, Wm. H. Thompson and Dan C. Danes and son Wm. Craig Thompson.
Services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery across the street following the service.

Just received the news. I am very sorry for your loss. I wish I got to know my Aunt Phyllis. Seeing her photo I see my Dad so much. I miss him. Forever in your heart and memories.
