Stuart "Stu" Hall
April 05, 2023
Stuart “Stu” Hall, 79, passed away peacefully at his home on April 5, 2023.
Stu was born on April 1, 1944, in Waterloo, Iowa to Stanley and Ruby (Richmond) Hall. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1962. Stu was a Seabee in the United States Navy and proudly served two tours in Vietnam. He was a Union Sheet Metal Worker for Local #45 and later a mail handler for the United States Post Office. Stu was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and AmVets.
He loved being outdoors, fishing, and working in his yard. Stu enjoyed listening to Country Western music and watching Gunsmoke. When his children were young, he was known as “The Fixer”. Stu could fix whatever was broken, bikes and cars were two of his specialties. He always made time for his boys to play catch or throw the football, even after a hard day’s work. Stu was a dedicated Green Bay Packers fan. He was a jokester and was always smiling. Stu will be fondly remembered for his unassuming, larger-than-life personality.
Stu is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna; brother, Kevin (Sue) Hall; aunt, Colleen Kacher; sons, Ryan (Keri) Hall and Chad (Shanna) Hall; daughter, Shannon (Glen) Haus; grandchildren, Trevor (Catherine) Hall, Amber (Andrew) Matney, Lauren (Jon) James, Brittany Harper, Victoria (Jeffrey) Greear, Amber Haus, Glenn Haus, Jr., and Dakota (Steve) Wicks; four great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; lifelong friend, Jim Bass and his wife Christy and many other beloved friends; as well as a host of extended family.

Dear Family,
Sorry for your loss. As an apprentice, I worked with Stu many years ago at Backman Sheet Metal Works. I haven't seen Stu in 40 years but I remember him fondly. Stu was always friendly, helpful and willing to teach. I respected his service as a Seabee and his skills and great spirit. Your loss is great and deep. May God comfort and bless you and your memories give you peace.

To Chad and all of Stus family, so sorry to hear of the passing of Stu. Stu was one of the highlights and bright spots in my career as a sheet-metal worker at Local 45. I met him long ago as an apprentice and hes been a friend ever since Not to mention, quite a few beers enjoyed with Stu at the tavern. You are all in my prayers.
