Judith "Judy" Marxer

Judith “Judy” Ann Marxer, 82, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Judy was born August 22, 1940, in Clarion, Iowa to Jack and Ruth Madeline (Thorpe) Patterson. She was a resident of Illinois, and worked as a realtor in the Chicago area for many years before going to work with her son in his dental office in Indiana. She moved back to Iowa to be closer to family two years ago.

Judy loved to shop and was always proud to show off her “new duds”. Her favorite store to frequent was Von Maur. She was sassy and independent and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her brother, James Williamson; sisters, Cherri Norris, Robyn Krienert, Pam Thomas, and Pat Cummings; niece, Tia Williamson (Jeremy Gurney); nephews, Dan (Heather) Williamson and Chad Williamson; as well as many great-nieces and nephews and many other extended family and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Marxer and Robbie Marxer; and her parents.

In honor and legacy of Judith’s son, Thomas, Judith founded the “Thomas Marxer Memorial Scholarship”. The scholarship was awarded to five Three-Sport-Athlete high school students and helped fund their way to college. In continuation of Thomas and Judith’s legacy, the family has asked that any contributions be made directly to the family to be used toward the now renamed “Thomas and Judith Marxer Memorial Scholarship”, an organization Judy believed in so much.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
