Linda Hutson

Linda Ann Hutson, 68, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Linda was born April 14, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa to Gene and Mary Ann Shineflew. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines. She married Albert “Bart” Hutson and they started their family. They lived in Des Moines all their lives and were proud Eastsiders.

Linda worked as a dietician for Charter Hospital (Mercy) on Franklin Avenue for many years, before becoming a fulltime caretaker for her mother later in life until her mom’s passing.

Linda was a great wife, mom, and grandma. She loved her family and loved spoiling them. She was smart and sassy, and always loved being around people. Linda enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She canned food and was a great cook. Linda was artistic and enjoyed doing projects with her kids. She was an animal lover and always had a pet – from cats to dogs to birds. When she had any free time, she liked sneaking away to Prairie Meadows to relax.

She is survived by her husband, Albert “Bart” Hutson; children, Cassidy Hutson (Joe Reasoner), Barty (Alisha) Hutson, David Hutson (Sarah Knotts), Ashlee (Jose) Franco, and Jeremy Hutson; brother, Charles (Cindy) Shineflew; grandchildren, Danny Hutson, Austin Hutson, Bryce Jeffers, Sebastian Hutson, Jacey Hutson, Christian Hutson, Natalie Nichols, Jeremy Hutson, Jr., Lilli Hutson, and Vanessa Franco; great-grandson, Hendrix Hutson; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Mary Ann Shineflew; brother, Jerry Lee Shineflew; and her granddaughter, Haileigh Hutson.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2023, also at Hamilton’s and will be followed by burial at North River Cemetery.
