I had not known Mel for a long time but when I met him it sure seemed like I had. Mel was a GREAT man that never took things always so serious which is why he lived a very full life. I will always rememeber Mel as my savior for the short time that I worked at the school in the kitchen. If it hadn't been for Mel the year that I was there, it might not have been so fun. Mel made the day when he showed up. I seen how everyone admired him and respected him--from the students to faculty and even strangers. We will all miss him greatly!
My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family and the lives that he touched so greatly!

We knew Mel as a warm and caring person who always had time to share a few words and a smile. Our memories of Pleasantville High School will always include the great guy in "Mel's Diner"! Mel was an important part of PHS and will be missed by so many of us. We are so sorry.

Judy, Karla, Kevin, Ronnie and family,
Our families walked a special walk together the last few weeks. We feel like we knew your Father because we got to know you. Your unfailing Love and Devotion to him shows what he was as a Husband/Father/Grandfather. You have all honored him in the greatest way you could.

To Mel's Family,
It was indeed an honor and a priveledge to have known and worked with Mel for many years here at Pleasantville. He was known to us all as an honorable and decent man . He was truly a "good guy". I had the pleasure of working with Kevin and Ron in my classes and if their lives are any indicator, Mel was a great success in life! While our loss is nothing compared to his families, please know the love and respect we have for him . We at PHS will miss him greatly!
