Richard “Dick” G. Roush, 89, passed away on March 30, 2023 at Unity Point Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines. He was born in Ottumwa, IA on November 6, 1933, son of Glenn and Icle (Cudworth) Roush.

Richard retired after 44 years of service from John Morrell & Co. and Smithfield Foods as an Industrial Design Engineer. He married Elizabeth A. Hein on March 15, 1953. Richard was a dedicated family man, who loved being a grandfather and great grandfather. He was a talented vocalist, leather artist, a small aircraft pilot, an avid woodworker, trap shooter, and hunter. Richard also enjoyed bowling and collecting guns and antiques. He loved to travel. He enjoyed making donations that would help families through his church. Richard was a very spiritual man, he belonged to several churches throughout his life – Plymouth Congregational Church and Church of The Brethren, both of which were in Ottumwa, Church of The Brethren in Naperville, IL, Lakeview UCC in Landon, OH and lastly, Bethany UCC of Freeport, IL.

Richard is survived by his children; Terri (Robert) Gipson of Altoona, IA, Cheryl (Gary) Betz of Naperville, IL and Diana (Bryan) Voiles of Decatur, IL; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sandra Hein of Ft. Myers, FL and Anna Roush of Agency, IA and brother-in-law, Duane Coltrain of Mission, TX.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Roush; parents, Glenn and Icle Roush; brother, Robert Roush; sister, Marilyn Coltrain, and brother-in-law, Robert Hein.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Freeport, IL
