Schyler Aren Coder, 27, passed away at 5:04 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Unity Point Taylor House in Des Moines, IA.

Schyler was born January 13, 1996 at 12:31 a.m. in Iowa City, Iowa, to Joseph Aaron Coder and Jennifer Lee Coder. Schyler was born two months premature and had been a fighter all his life after being diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, Cirrhosis, and Asthma at one month and ten days old. He was a remarkable child, always curious and wanting to learn everything. He loved video games; Halo, Kingdom Hearts, Dead Space, and all the Lego games. His brother, Seth, has been forever his best friend and partner in crime through everything. Schyler loved to sing and loved almost all music. Music was his way of escape.

Schyler is survived by his mother and father, Joseph and Jennifer Coder of West Des Moines; his brother, Seth Coder, of West Des Moines; grandparents, Gerald and Nancy Goebel, of West Des Moines, grandmother, Melody Cochrane of Oskaloosa; aunts and uncles, Tammy (Erik) Altman, Laurie ( Patrick) Kazeze, Jeremy Bass, Angie( Matt) Sumpter, Wendy and Erik Asher, Jason and Lisa Cochrane, Lisa Cochrane, Mickey Cochrane, and Justin and Bridget Cochrane; his special friends, Alex and Zach Smith, Jesper and Anthony Luna, and Stephanie Young; his many cousins, Kelsea Goebel, Taylor Smith, Emma, Ashley and Jordan Kazeze, Brittany Altman, Amber Altman, Erik Altman, Jr, Jace Bass, Harrison Bass, Alexis Dailey, Dylan White, Hayden Sumpter, and Bianca Sumpter; and other family and friends who will miss him terribly but know he’s with the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Joe and Sandy Coder, and grandfather Ron Cochrane.

Celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation taking place one hour prior. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage, Iowa.
