March 27, 2023
Marlene Louise Domenig, 87, passed away on March 27, 2023, at her home in Des Moines, surrounded by family. She was born in Grove City, PA, on July 26, 1935,to William and Lettie Wiseman.
Marlene graduated from Birmingham High School in 1953, and moved to Des Moines where she worked for Central Life Insurance Company. Through mutual friends, Marlene met the love of her life, George Domenig, and married him on March 22, 1957. She was a stay at home mom till her kids were in Jr. High, then she went to work for Polk County, first in the Administration Building,
then later at the Senior Centers to assist in coordinating events.
One of Marlene’s favorite things to do was dance. She and George would light up the dance floor at wedding receptions and parties, where often times the crowd would part to watch them. Many a dance lessons were held on their living room rug!
In retirement, she and George enjoyed traveling with friends, and her siblings and their spouses. She loved playing cards with family and friends- she was very competitive! Marlene was a member of Union Park Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Marlene is survived by her children, Debra Talley; Kim (Kurt) Bender; Tom Domenig, all of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Nick Talley (Suzanne); Samantha (Dustin) Rasmussen; T.J. (Hannah) Bender; Cassie (Brian) Nalean; Nick (Lyndie) Bender, and six great grandchildren, Donovan, Barrett, Beck, Lucas, Hazel, and Jase; many nieces and nephews and her spiritual family. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents; and siblings, Vivian, Bud and Bob.

Marlene was such a sweetheart and will be missed by everyone. She was always so much fun to be around. Whenever I got to spend time with her my day was always a little brighter. I will wait patiently until I see her again in the promised resurrection. I will also pray that Jehovah gives her loved ones peace of heart.
