Marilyn June Sholley

Marilyn Sholley, age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. She was born the daughter of George and Mary (Sutphin) Bunker on January 22, 1943, in Newton, Iowa.

Marilyn was a talented cook who loved cooking and creating meals for others. In her free time, she enjoyed being outdoors and camping. She will be remembered most for her big heart, storytelling, and always being happy-go-lucky. Above all else, Marilyn was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children Clifford (Jodie) Sholley, Steven Sholley, Darrell Sholley, Jr., Sherry (James) Davenport, Timmy (Corrine) Sholley, and Linda Sholley, 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her father George Bunker, mother Mary (Sutphin) Bunker, so George Everett Sholley, grandson Danny Sholley, great-grandsons Isaiah Sholley-Gonzalez and Brendan Sholley, and her aunt Pauline Ackland.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023, with funeral service following at 1:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Newton Union Cemetery.
