Zoe Ann Bacon, 83, passed away on March 22, 2023 at Mercy Hospice Johnston. She was born September 9, 1939, in Guthrie Center, Iowa the daughter of Harold and Thelma Griffin.

Zoe Ann graduated from Guthrie Center schools in 1957. In September 1957 she married the love of her life, Dwayne. To this marriage they had 5 children. She was a homemaker and did work off and on throughout her life. She was Regional Sales Manager for Artex Paints. She also worked at John Deere in the cafeteria and at Burger King. She was office secretary for Dennis Parking Lot Maintenance. She enjoyed working outside the home. Zoe Ann took pride in her garden. Planting and caring for all the vegetables throughout the summer and then canning all the different varieties of fresh homegrown vegetables to have during the winter months. She loved African Violets and all the flowers she found herself tending to. Weekends were for camping. Whether that be in a school bus with a cow horn or a fifth wheel trailer. She would prepare and plan for the weekend. Spending time with family was huge for Zoe Ann. She always wanted her family together for gatherings, holidays (big and small), or just a meal. Zoe looked forward to the Bacon Reunions, loved seeing those that would travel from all over for the Reunion. She always had a smile on her face no matter how hectic or rattled planning and preparing the Reunion got. Zoe Ann was all about FAMILY.

Zoe Ann is survived by her 3 sons, Marty, Anthony and Addison Bacon; and 1 daughter Elonda Bacon all of Des Moines. 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister. Her daughter Evonne Bacon, and the love of her life, husband, Dwayne.

Services will be at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., in Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 with a 10:00 a.m. service on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
