Gary Rewalt

Gary Rewalt, age 85, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Gary was born October 27, 1937, in Antigo, Wisconsin to Raymond and Elsie Rewalt.

He proudly served in the Naval Reserves and was a Supervisor at John Deere prior to his retirement. He loved anything to do with the outdoors – hunting, fishing, and camping were his favorite pastimes. He was a history buff and it was his favorite topic of conversation. Gary enjoyed watching movies and was a voracious reader. His family was most important to him, and he loved spending time with them.

He is survived by his son Alan (Dana) Rewalt, daughter Michelle Byers, step-sons Joe Borland, John Borland, and Jim (Tamara) Borland, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and his brother Ray Rewalt, Jr.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years Sandra Rewalt, and parents Raymond and Elsie Rewalt.

There will be a celebration of life at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.

Was Garys neighbor for several years. Had many conversations with him outside in the yard. Was always pleasant and friendly. Gary was a good neighbor. Will miss his big smile.
