Judith "Judy" Ann Heck

Judy, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and her protective dog, “Turbo”, who refused to leave her side.
Judy was born on January 26th, 1941 in Des Moines, IA where she remained her entire life. She worked at the US Post office in Des Moines for almost 30 years before retiring as an honorable clerk. She worked many hours of the night and day to provide for her family. After retiring, she started working part-time at places such as Dahls, Walgreens, and ended at Walmart, where she worked for several more years.
Judy was known for being the best mother and grandmother. She was the glue that kept her family together. She was a selfless, independent, dedicated woman who touched the lives of so many. She enjoyed cooking big holiday/birthday dinners for everyone in her family. She was the head of every family event. She will be missed by so many.
Judy is survived by her daughter Sue Heck, her son Kenny (Teresa) Heck, her grandchildren Chris (Shelly) Heck, Lukas Parks, Heather (Zac) Curry, Amber (Korey) O’Connor, Raini and Robby VanGundy, and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a few very dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Doris Jean Warren and Raymond McConkey, sisters Doris “Jean” Eddy, Bonnie McConkey, grandson Cory Heck, and great grandson Sylis Heck.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2023.
