Mattie "Kathy" Kigar

Mattie “Kathy” Kigar, was born on February 18, 1948 to Gracie Mann and Virgil McDaniel in San Antonio, Texas. She passed way on March 19, 2023 in Des Moines.

Kathy loved thunderstorms, flea markets and fishing. She had a passion and love of crocheting, she would crochet anything and everything. Kathy loved flowers and gardening, she took great pride in her yard, especially her peonies, which was her favorite flower. On November 7, 1991 she married the love of her life, Joseph Leroy Kigar, Jr.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Joe; daughters, Kris (Vern) Cook, Jenni (John) Johnson, Mona (Doug) Wagner, Anne (Tucker) Gift and Melanie Brown; 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; adopted family, Becky Duncan and Caleb Ryan; beloved dogs, Peanut and Shelby. Along with a host of family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janice Acres; daughter, Eugenia Brown and grandson, Alan Corbin, Jr.
