Grace "Lucene" Whisler

Grace “Lucene” Whisler, 87, passed away on March 16, 2023, at Westview Care Center in Indianola, Iowa.
Lucene was born January 13, 1936, to Paul and Lena (Oliver) Guinn in Dean, Iowa. She graduated from Moulton High School. On November 15, 1957, she married Jack Whisler. Lucene enjoyed cooking and making Christmas candies. She loved watching sports and supporting her family and grandchildren at their sporting events. Lucene was an avid Iowa, Iowa State, and Chicago Cubs fan. She always enjoyed yearly trips to Branson.
Lucene is survived by her husband, Jack; children, Sue (Kevin) Hall, Kathy (Brad) Williams, Amy (Scott) Hutchens and Jack (Stephanie) Whisler; grandchildren, Emily (Matt) Wolfe, Jason Williams, Tyler (Haley) Hall, Jordan (Kaitlin) Hutchens, Taylor Hutchens, Lexie Whisler and Jake Whisler; great-grandchildren, Ford Wolfe and Riley Hutchens; sister, Frances (Jerry) Probasco; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Helen Pedrick, Eleanor Douglas and Billie Jo Jay.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a charity to be determined at a later date, in loving memory of Lucene.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Lucene will be laid to rest at Norwalk Cemetery.

Dear Whisler family I am so so sorry to hear of your loss. It is not easy to lose your parent nor your loved one. Jack Sr. My Dad loved you and Lucene so much! So sorry for your loss. Lucene and I were class mates at Moulton Public School. Oh what fun we had playing basketball together. She was a fun loving gal, loved hanging with her and others. She will be missed.
