Chris L. Wood

Chris Lynn Wood, 76, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

Chris was born January 15, 1947, to James and Dorothy (Waterbury) Faust. She was raised in a military family and lived all over the world. She married Daniel Wood and together they raised their family in the Des Moines area. Chris worked for the State of Iowa for 35 years.

Her family was her greatest joy and she loved her grandchildren above all else. Chris was an animal lover and volunteered caring for horses, at the Zoo, and for the Animal Rescue League.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Wood; children, Connie (Larry) McPherson, Michael (Cathy) Wood, Marsha Webb (Robb Hanson), and Lancer Wood; grandchildren, Amanda, Sandy, Christina, Cassie, Danny, and Jesse; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Lance Faust and Jim Faust.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter after the funeral.
