Linda Kay Carico, age 75, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023.

Linda was born April 24, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa to Jack and Dorothy (Kinsel) Rheuport. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1965. Linda worked for JC Penney as a sales associate. She married her childhood sweetheart, Marvin Wayne Carico on September 25, 1965, in Des Moines at Wesley United Methodist Church. She then moved to Ft. Riley, Kansas to be with Wayne before he shipped out to Vietnam. She moved back to Des Moines and began working at Highland Potato Chip Co. She then worked as a school bus driver for Des Moines Public Schools. After ten years of driving buses, she became a job coach for Easter Seals until her retirement in 2006. Linda enjoyed cross stitch, camping, fishing, going to the casino and eating at their buffets. She loved her family above all else and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved making memories with family gatherings and yearly summer vacations. Over the years they traveled to Las Vegas, the Rocky Mountains, Bow String Lake, MN, and went on cruises, to name a few.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Wayne Carico; children, Michael (Joyce) Carico, Karen (Dennis) Ryan; grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Miller, Andrew (Andrea) Carico, Adam Ryan, Trevor Ryan, Natalie Ryan; great-grandchild, Kade Carico; siblings, Sheryl Polson, Steven (Angie) Rheuport, Ronald Rheuport; lifelong friend, Jeanette Woods; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dorothy Rheuport and brothers, Gerald J. Sporaa and Lee Howard Van Gorp.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023, also at Hamilton’s, and will be followed by burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 340245 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel at 12:30 p.m. Please join the family for a luncheon to be held at American Legion Post 403, Veteran’s Reception Center, 910 Main Street, Van Meter, IA 50261 after the burial.
