Anita Joan Ferguson
March 05, 2023
Anita Joan (Green) Ferguson was born in Des Moines, IA, March 11, 1952. As the middle child of 5, she immediately began developing the gifts that would make her the shining center, pillar, and matriarch of her own family. Her love and loyalty for family and intimate friendships made her a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a wife, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, and best friend we all looked forward to being around, up until the very moment she suddenly and unexpectedly passed as she got ready for church Sunday March 5, 2023 at age 70.
A known native of Des Moines east side, Anita graduated from East High School, where many of her long and meaningful relationships began. She would go on to achieve her Associates Degree at Grand View Community College. She then met the love of her life, Phillip E. Ferguson and they married May 8th, 1976, growing and raising their family they adored together.
Anita was preceded in death by her grandmother, Jean Newby, Father David Henry Green, and brother Lawrence Green whom she loved dearly. Anita will be missed by her mother, Joan Charlotte (Green) Murray, brothers Gary Green, Philly Green, sister Denise (Green) Lovejoy, her loving husband, Phillip E Ferguson, her four children, David E. Ferguson (Camille), Phillip E. Ferguson Jr.,Valerie Guzman (Curtis), and Kenneth J. Ferguson, and a host of grandchildren that were the apple of her eye, Ana Falk, Jackson Falk, Angeal Ferguson, Ja’More Smith, Ja’Kobie Smith, Hallebelle Ferguson, Melody Guzman, Dase E. Ferguson, and Giovanna Guzman.
Please join her family in celebrating her life on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at True Bible Baptist Church located at 4101 Amherst St. Des Moines, IA 50313. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM followed by the Service at 12:00 PM

Words can not describe how hard it has been since Anita has been gone. My parents and her grew up together and I considered Anita as my second mother for 30 years. I am soooo thankful I was able to get her to go to Jamaica and to spend that week with her. I am even more thankful and blessed that I got to speak to her the day before she passed. She has always been full of joy and a pleasure to be around. My deepest condolences to the Ferguson family.

To all of the Ferguson family. I want you to know Anita was always the cream of the crop for being a truly loving human being. I met her at East High School where we became friends. When we ran into each other during the years there was always laughter and true joy. Always a loving and generous soul. My heart goes out to all of you and I wish you all of you Gods Speed. Keep all those precious memories you have and always hold her dear to your heart. I will miss my friend. God Bless You All

To the Fergusons and all who cherished Anita as I did. I'm so grateful she called me Feb 20th and asked if we could get together for lunch. I think I'll hang on to that voicemail for a while. We had a wonderful lunch and visit on the 26th and as always, we laughed a lot. We always made each other laugh! above all, I treasure the fact that she was a sister in Christ. I take great Solace in knowing for an absolute fact that she's in the presence of our Savior. She attended some of our church picnics and services along with her friend, Pam and my church friends were always delighted to see her because she was so outgoing and friendly. The last words I told her as we last parted were, "You're beautiful and I love you. Anita, I know you're more beautiful than ever in your robes of white and I still love you and I look forward to seeing you again! "When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I." Psalm 61:2

Words seem inadequate during times like this but we want you to know how sorry we are for your loss. I was lucky enough to meet Anita a couple of times while working with Valerie. It was obvious that Anita was an exceptional mother and role model. Thinking of you all during these difficult times. God Bless

I am so sorry for your loss. To the entire family of Anita(Nita) she will be missed. I am sending my deepest condolences and prayers to you all. Praying God will give you Comfort, Peace, Healing and Strength during this difficult time. So many wonderful fond childhood memories. We were all supposed to have a lunch date but we had put it off because of different weather conditions. Dont put off things, as tomorrow is not promised to anyone. The conversation I had with her and Mom Murray not long ago, we talked and had some good laughs. Nita I LOVE YOU, I WILL MISS YOU, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN😥💕❤🙏🏾
