Mary was born August 25, 1949, the daughter of Louie and Charleen (Dougherty) Sacco. She was an Administrative Assistant with the DCI for many years before retiring from the Iowa State Patrol after 35 years of faithful service.

She was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears supporter. She was always up for a “Girls' Night Out” with her girlfriends and felt blessed with those special friendships she made through the years. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Sacco; and the love of her life, Kenny Rodine.

I can still hear Marys pleasant voice on the phone or in person. I can still see her bright smile. She was always there when we needed her help to fulfill the DPS mission.

Miss Mary, one of the most gracious and kind ladies I have ever known. I loved her from the first time I met her and have so many wonderful memories of working with her and spending time with her outside of work. Lunches at Tumeas was a favorite place to go. My heart is sad that she is gone but I am so glad for all the memories she has left me with, it was an honor and a blessing to be her friend. My thoughts and prayers are with her family whom she loved so much.

I worked with Mary when she was with the Iowa State Patrol. She was always very friendly and helpful whenever I would approach her with questions. Mary will be missed. Her family and friends are in my thoughts.
