Ronald “Ron” Graham, 64, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 27, 2023.
Ron was born July 2, 1958, in Des Moines to Leonard and Mary (Davitt) Graham. He started his career with Earl May Garden Center and became one of the first 150 certified horticulturists in the State of Iowa. Ron later retired from the State of Iowa where he had worked in engineering for several years. He enjoyed the outdoors and received a conservation award from Pheasants Forever in 2022. Ron loved spending time with his family and friends. Above all, he was especially proud of being “Papa” to his granddaughter, Ellison.
Ron is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karla Graham; children, Christina (Tyler) Billings and Lucas Graham; granddaughter, Ellison Billings; siblings, Jack (Julie) Graham, Marilyn (Carl) Jones, Tom (Jane) Graham, Teresa Brentano, Don (Jan) Graham, Den (Michelle) Graham, Annette (Tim) McClaury, Chuck Graham and Lisa (Steve) Gordon; mother-in-law, Jenice Van Rees; sisters-in-law, Sherry Graham, Carol (Jeff) Bakeris and Karen (Randy) Rice; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mary Graham; brothers, Joseph and Richard Graham; and his father-in-law, Leonard Van Rees.
The family will greet friends Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 6th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Ron will be laid to rest at St. John’s Cemetery in Cumming, Iowa, following the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association or Whitetails Unlimited in loving memory of Ron.

Ron was always very kind to me and I appreciated talking with him on the times I did. He had great knowledge and insight to share. I am saddened to hear of his passing. I will remember the nice times I talked with him as he was one of the friendliest people Ive met
