Arvilla M. Oxenford

Arvilla Mary Oxenford was born June 23, 1930, in Dedham, Iowa to Joseph and Theresa (Bauer) Wiskus. She passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa at the age of 92.
Arvilla was the second oldest of twelve children on the Wiskus family farm. She attended St. Joseph School in Dedham. Arvilla was industrious and worked at the Manning Hatchery along with helping to raise her brothers and sisters. After relocating to Des Moines, she was employed at Meredith.
Arvilla married Richard Oxenford and to this union three children were born – Paul, Lori, and Steve. She is survived by her son, Paul (Lisa) Oxenford of Des Moines; daughter, Lori (Hari) Mangalapalli of Arizona; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Brincks of Carroll, IA, JoAnn (Roman) Halbur of Garden City, KS, and Kate (Don) Miller of Dedham, IA; brothers, Bob (Gay) Wiskus of Manning, IA and Ken (Deb) Wiskus of Coon Rapids, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2016; son, Steve in 2020; parents, Joe and Theresa; and siblings, Marvin, Eugene, Jerome, LaVern, Theresa, and Arnold.
There will be a graveside service Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham, Iowa at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham, Iowa in loving memory of Arvilla.

Arvilla was such a nice neighbor while growing up in Highland Park. Our paths would cross occasionally throughout the years and I always enjoyed seeing her.
