Leslie Annette Brewer
February 12, 2023
Leslie Annette Brewer was born January 12, 1957, to Elizabeth and Donald Daniels in Macomb, Illinois. Her family moved to Ankeny, Iowa in 1972, where she attended Ankeny High School. She won a State Championship in Gymnastics while she was there.
Leslie, known as Annette, married Freddie Haynes and was blessed with two children: Shayla Haynes and Marshon Haynes. Annette and Freddie divorced, and that was when she met Kenneth Brewer. They were married in 1994 and enjoyed 28 years of marriage. During their marriage, their blended family had four grandchildren: Naomi Braunshausen, Isaiah Haynes, Tavean Bell, and Estrella Bell; and two great-grandchildren, Kameron and Kayden Haynes.
Annette loved the time she could spend with her grandkids and shopping. Annette loved to serve the Lord and was a Charter Member of her church – Our Savior’s Full Gospel Baptist Church, and she was ordained there as a minister in 2002. When she was called on to preach, she could deliver a message that would resonate with all who heard the Word. She worked for the Des Moines Register for 19 years in the advertisement department as an Account Executive and made many lifelong friends in the city of Urbandale, which was her territory. She went on to work at Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Direct Sales Representative, which she enjoyed very much.
Annette went to her homegoing February 12, 2023, after a two year battle with cancer. She never gave up or lost her faith in this battle. We will all miss her spirit and her willingness to help others.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Brewer; children, Shayla Haynes and Marshon Haynes (Tana); step-daughter, LaCimbrea Ross (Aaron); grandchildren, Naomi Braunshausen, Isaiah Haynes, Tavean Bell, and Estrella Bell; great-grandchildren, Kameron and Kayden Haynes; siblings, Don “Skip” Daniels, Steven Daniels, Diana Daniels; and many nieces, nephews, other loving family, and many friends.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Elizabeth Daniels; and her sister, Sharon Daniels.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2023 at Mount Hebron Baptist Church, 1338 9th Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Animal Lifeline of Iowa, 4521 SE 14th Street, Des Moines, IA 50320 in loving memory of Annette.

To God Be the Glory all the time. Annette is now resting in the hands of the Lord. She was truly a humble and loving person and could Preach the Word like no other. I worked with her at Blue Cross and Blue Shield as well as shared in the Ministry. May God rest her soul and comfort the family like no one else can.
Humbly submitted.
