Sareap Noeuy

Sareap Noeuy, 66, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on February 13, 2023 in his home. He was born to Sat Thab and Len Noeuy in Onloung Ven, Oddar Meanchey Providence in Cambodia on August 26, 1956.
He is survived by his wife Kim Suon Noeuy, his four children Stacy (Vathana) Lovan, Louise (Justin) Valin, Buntoeun (Champey) Noeuy and Buntan Noeuy; 12 grandchildren: Anthony Lovan, Mason Lovan, Ethan Lovan, Julianna Lovan, Sebastian Pongxayavong, Elizabeth Pongxayavong, Abby Pongxayavong, Evelyn Valin, Alvin Valin, Eloise Valin, Conner Noeuy and May Noeuy, one great-grandson Yuki Kemp; 8 siblings: Samay, Saroun, Sanok, Saroan, Ngoy, Sang, Keo and Phalla Noeuy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 siblings and daughter Som Noeuy.
Sareap and his wife escaped the Cambodian genocide and arrived to Chuonmarry refugee camp in Thailand shortly after Stacy was born in 1979. The three were sponsored by his wife's family Nhoeuy and Vickie Ches and arrived in Oskaloosa, Iowa in 1982 before moving to Des Moines in 1985. He held various positions in construction, manufacturing, meat packing plant and a custodian before taking an early retirement in 2005.
Sareap held several leadership positions in the Cambodian community. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchild, extended family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, taking care of his chickens and grand-dogs. He will be greatly missed in the community.

We dearly loved Sareap and the entire family. It was our honor to sponsor them! Definitely a challenge but the rewards outweighed each one. Sareap was fun and very loving! We will miss him dearly until we may meet him again!
